V-day Vi Jay Jay

http://rxfitnesslady.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/BIKINIS.jpg

Who’s getting a Vi Jay Jay as smooth as a baby’s bottom this week? Ha, you don’t have to answer that but I know quite a few of you will be with Valentine’s Day coming up this week.  So in case you have been sleeping under a rock lately, this is for you…

Bikini Wax – the process of removing pubic hair from the exposed skin around the edges of a bikini by applying hot wax to the areas.

Brazilian Wax – a technique in which all or most of the pubic hair is removed from the front, back, & everything in between with hot wax treatment.  Often times, an optional landing strip is left in the front.

Celebrities & reality T.V. will have you thinking you need to give the snatch of the hair a try.  There are several reasons why people advocate waxing;

  • It’s clean and smooth
  • Body hair is not “the thing” to have right now
  • It gets the root of the hair & you don’t have maintenance as often like with shaving

The million-dollar question however, is does it make sex better?  That is an answer you will have to derive for yourself with your partner.  If I could get some men over here to PFL to take a poll, I think you’d find that some like it bare and some like it bushy!

Some of you are probably thinking, there’s no way in H-E- double hockey sticks I’m ever gonna have hair ripped from my vi jay jay.

Then you can make an informed decision.  It’s My Health Monday, so while you are preparing your Valentine rendezvous, we’re gonna make sure you’re safely doing so.

Just A Few Things You Should Know

First off, I’ll share with you just one opinion of a Family Physician, Dr. Emily Gibson as reported here.

“Pubic hair does have a purpose, providing cushion against friction that can cause skin abrasion and injury … [its] removal naturally irritates and inflames the hair follicles left behind, leaving microscopic open wounds”

You can read more about the growth and purpose of pubic hair here.  Now, that you know there is indeed a purpose for the pubic hair, I would recommend that you speak to your own primary healthcare physician or gynecologist before scheduling an appointment.  In case you are a first time reader (as I’m sure some of you kinky chicks finally decided to come on over after reading the title;), please visit my disclaimer page in the right side bar…Thank you.  Now back to what I was saying…

So you’ve gotten the go ahead (which I’m 95% sure that you will, IJS), now what?

  1. Schedule an appointment with a licensed Esthetician & ask all your questions up front.  If you feel uncomfortable with any answers or if it looks unsanitary, GET UP AND LEAVE!
  2. I would strongly recommend taking Ibuprofen (Advil & Motrin are the same thing) at least 30 minutes before your appointment.  It will help reduce the discomfort.
  3. I would also recommend not doing anything crazy like going to spin/rpm class right before your appointment…pain much?
  4. Please extend your Esthetician the same courtesy that you give your Doctor and shower before your appointment.
  5. Depending on where you’re located, be prepared to pay around $50 for a service of this nature.
  6. Use exfoliating pads afterwards for the next few days.
  7. Much like trying a new fitness class, the key is to go back a second time.  It gets better and the pain is more manageable.
  8. Schedule your follow up appointment for about 4 weeks out unless you have super growth!

I am a female pharmacist not an Esthetician but I have provided for you my professional & personal opinion.  If you have any questions, I invite you to leave a comment or email me via my contact page.  Please know that I advocate safe sex if you are active as I ‘ve stated the last few weeks, and provided you with innovative protective options here.  I hope that all of you that are married or in a relationship have a very Happy Valentine’s Day and for those of you who aren’t…I have a special treat for you Wednesday.  Come back and see me!
